Ode to a Tomato

Thanks to Jennifer for posting Neruda's Ode to a Tomato.

8/29 Green Market Booty

I'm trying to make a habit of stopping at the green market on my way to work at least once a week. Lots of great stuff to choose from this morning, I filled up my bag with corn, red onion, tomatoes, fingerling potatoes, a tiny leaf variety of basil, and bok choy. Thanks to Elise, I think my corn will become part of an arugula corn salad with bacon. Still daydreaming about the rest of my green market booty...

Mmmm...pork butt!

Turns out that despite our tiny kitchen and temperamental appliances, it is possible to turn out a good to great meal in there. It just takes some planning, a watchful eye, and a little bit of determination.
Saturday night the little kitchen that could turned out fried okra, spicy corn salad, and pernil for 4 happy bellies. I realize now that I don't need a bigger kitchen, I just need a bigger dining table!

Sweet Tea

Bundled Up in Bacon

Baconscarf_2

Yes, it's a bacon scarf. As if I needed another reason to long for autumn weather.

DIY Bo Ssam

Recipe for David Chang's Bo Ssam Not exactly the same dish as the one on the Momofuku Ssam Bar menu but still intriguing.
