Self-portrait with Brussels Sprouts (Yes, I am a dork)

I'm not doing anything fancy with these tonight (olive oil, salt, pepper, roast), but the next stalk of brussels sprouts to enter my kitchen undoubtedly will find itself on the receiving end of the David Chang treatment.

yummy! sprouts are the new kale!
I read an interview with marco piere white and he pointed out that the tradition is to eat sprouts after the first frost. he recommended replicating the frost by putting them in the freazer over night to tenderise them. i tried, it works

Interesting! Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try that next time.

Oh man, I've been eyeing the stalks of brussels sprouts at the market and this post just pushed me over the edge. I like the David Chang approach . . . but truth be told, I'm craving them just simple the way you describe.

Great blog!
